Q What is Bio Sculpture Executive Base?
A Executive Base is used to strengthen and condition the natural nail. It will compress the nail keratin, leaving a strong, durable nail. The added magnesium, vitamins, minerals, calcium and protein keep the nail flexible, preventing it from becoming brittle. Clients should use it as part of the Home After-care routine or to treat their damaged natural nails.

Q Can airbrushing be done over Bio Sculpture Gel?
A Yes, because airbrushing is done with water based paint it is compatible with Bio Sculpture.

Q Why do bubbles appear in the center of the nail?
A During the "fill in" process, the ridge at the back of the nail was not buffed down well, and "an opening" was sealed - trapping air. When warm, the air will expand and form a bubble. Bubbles will also appear if you cured Bio Sculpture Gel under the wrong UV light wattage. A UV Unit with at least two 9-watt UV light bulbs should be used. Make sure that your UV Unit's light bulbs are not old. Replace the light bulbs every 2000 hours.

Q Can I use Bio Sculpture Gel with any 9-watt UV Lamp?
A Not any UV lamp can cure Bio Sculpture Gel. Please make sure that you have a lamp with at least two 9-watt UV light bulbs like the Bio Sculpture UV Lamp. Another UV curing lamp with lower wattage light bulbs will not cure Bio Sculpture Gel even if you leave the nails in the UV lamp for a longer period of time. The rays must be strong enough to penetrate all the way through the gel. Remember that 4 x 4-watt is still just a 4-watt UV lamp and does not make up 16 watts. Caution!! Please do not be misled by this kind of false information. It will result in Bio Sculptures High Quality Gel Product lifting because it has not been cured sufficiently. Bio Sculpture requires a Philips or Osram 9-wat UV-A light bulb to cure our gel properly. If you are not sure, please contact us for more information.

Q Are the UV rays from Bio Sculpture Curing Lamp harmful?
A The UV rays are low powered and contain only UV-A. It will therefore not damage or tan the skin.

Q How can I convert my traditional acrylic client's over to gel?
A This should not be difficult. Start using Bio Sculpture Gel when your client needs her next fill, if you see that your client's natural nail is thin and damaged due to the use of damaging products or poor workmanship. We suggest that you thin down the existing product leaving just a very thin layer. Then do a conventional Gel fill with Bio Sculpture and wean off the unwanted product. Alternatively the previous product can be removed and a new full set can be done using Bio Sculpture Gel.

Q Will Bio Sculpture crack or splinter?
A

Yes, Bio Sculpture Gel can be applied to the natural nail without the use of primers, bonders or base coats. It can also be applied onto plastic tips and is compatible with other nail systems. Not using Bio Sculpture Top Coat but an alternative clear or top coat or nail polish that contains formaldehyde will cause the surface of the gel to be dehydrated causing small hairline cracks. These cracks will disappear when you do your next fill. "Compare it with a cloth that is flexible. If the cloth is bent it will not break or tear but if glue is spilled on the cloth and left to dry the cloth will crack or even tear if the glue covered cloth is bent." When Bio Sculpture Top Coat is not removed properly during a Home After-care or temporary color change the Top Coat could make hairline crack underneath the new application of Top Coat; please don't be alarmed, the Bio Sculpture Gel is unharmed. Remove the Top Coat completely, and then re-apply Top Coat.

Q Is Bio Sculpture Gel suitable for clients (hairdressers) who have their hands in water a lot?
A The gel will not be damaged by water. Clients whose hands are in water a lot should do their Home After-care regularly. Recommend that Top Coat be replaced at least once a week making sure that the Top Coat covers the entire nail from the cuticle to the free edge. This will ensure that the gel stays flat and sealed on the natural nail at the cuticle line.

Q Is Bio Sculpture suitable for hairdressers?
A Many hairdressers have their nails done with Bio Sculpture Gel. It is vital though that they do their Home After-care regularly and that they wear gloves when using hair dyes and chemicals. Water will not damage their nails.

Q Are there any products or procedures, which do not, damage Bio Sculpture Gel?
A Paraffin dips are delightful and can be done after a gel application is completed. It will not affect the gel. If done before the application of gel the gel will lift because of to much oil on the natural nail and the gel will not adhere properly.
Suntan lotions, soaps, and shampoos are compatible with Bio Sculpture and will not damage the gel.

Q Are there any products that might soften Bio Sculpture Gel causing it to lift?
A 1. When using products that contain ammonia, gloves should be worn, as it will soften Bio Sculpture Gel.
A 2. Acetone polish remover will cause gel to soften also resulting in lifting. Often polish remover states that they are acetone free but they still contain a small amount of acetone also resulting in lifting. Bio Sculpture's specially formulated Cleanser (Polish Remover) should be used with Bio Sculpture Gel. It is mild, but extremely effective.
